Riding Gear
Bring your usual road-riding gear. While we provide helmets and raincoats, many prefer their own for the best fit. It can get chilly in the mountains, so pack a heavier jacket. Essentials include gloves, sturdy shoes, protective eyewear, and riding clothes. A daypack for essentials and a hydrapack can be useful. Don’t forget sunscreen and swimwear for beaches, waterfalls, and pools. Flip-flops are fine for evenings but not suitable for riding.
Packing
Pack light with three sets of clothes like t-shirts, shorts, and jeans. Hiking gear works well as it’s lightweight and compact. Vietnam is generally warm, but mountain areas can be cooler, so bring a jacket or sweater. Essentials include toiletries, evening footwear, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a daypack, and a camera.
Luggage
Luggage options depend on your tour. Special Event and Premium Tours include a support vehicle to carry your bags. Standard tours require you to carry your gear on the bike, which comes with racks, straps, and covers. A limited supply of saddle bags is also available. If no support vehicle is included, pack light and use a backpack for easy strapping.
Money
The currency is Vietnamese Dong, with 20,000 VND roughly equal to $1 USD. Most currencies are easy to exchange, and rates are better in Vietnam than back home. Premium and Special Event Tours cover most costs, so you’ll only need cash for meals, snacks, and souvenirs. ATMs are common, and cards work well, but notify your bank before traveling to avoid issues.
